Privacy Policy

Horizech SMC-Pvt Ltd is a company registered in Pakistan under company number 0209883, based in Lahore. In this policy "we", "us" and "our" mean Horizech SMC-Pvt Ltd.

Horizech also has companies in the United States and the United Kingdom. They are separate legal entities with their own responsibilities and their own policies — the group site at horizech.com is operated by Horizech LLC, and horizech.co.uk by Horizech LTD. This policy covers this website and the data we handle ourselves.

This matters more here than on the other Horizech sites, because we do two distinct things with personal data:

• As a controller. For this website, for people who contact us, and for people who apply to work with us, we decide what is collected and why. That data is ours, and everything below describes how we handle it.
• As a processor. When we build and operate products and client projects for the other Horizech companies, we handle personal data on their instructions, not our own. For that data they are the controller — see the privacy policy on horizech.com or horizech.co.uk, whichever applies to the product or engagement in question.

If you are not sure which applies to you, write to us and we will tell you, or pass you to the company that can answer.

This site is a brochure. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no forms and no analytics. We do not build a profile of you and we cannot tell who has visited.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — including your IP address, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string — for a short period, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. That is the only personal data this website causes to be processed.

If you email us we hold your email address, your name if you give it, and the contents of your message, so that we can reply and keep a record of the conversation.

If you write to us about working here, we hold what you send — your CV or profile, links to your work, and our notes on the conversation. We use it to consider your application and to talk to you about it, and nothing else. We do not share it outside Horizech, and we do not use it to make an automated decision about you.

We handle personal data in line with the law applicable to us in Pakistan, and to the same standard across every Horizech company, so that data does not become less protected by being worked on here rather than elsewhere in the group.

In practice that means: we collect only what we need for the purpose we collected it for, we do not sell personal data or share it for advertising, access is limited to the people who need it, and we keep it only as long as it is useful or as long as we are required to.

We share personal data with other Horizech companies where there is a reason to — for example, passing an enquiry to the company that can actually answer it — and with a small number of service providers who process data on our instructions, such as hosting and email. We do not sell it, and we do not share it for advertising.

Horizech's other companies are in the United States and the United Kingdom, and some of our service providers are elsewhere again, so personal data may be transferred outside Pakistan. Where that happens we put appropriate contractual protections in place with the recipient before it does, and we hold them to the same standard described here. Ask us and we will tell you what applies to a particular transfer.

Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted once they are clearly no longer live. Applications are kept for up to a year in case something suitable comes up, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Records we are required to keep for tax, accounting or employment purposes are kept for as long as the law requires. Server logs are short-lived.

As a matter of policy, we offer the following to everyone who deals with us, wherever they are and whatever their local law happens to require of us:

• ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• ask us to delete data, where there is no continuing reason to keep it;
• ask us to stop using it for a particular purpose;
• ask a real person why we hold something, and get a real answer.

Where we are acting as a processor for another Horizech company (see section 2), we will pass your request to that company rather than act on it ourselves — and we will tell you that we have done so.
